Some links on this blog are affiliate links. This page explains which ones, with whom, and what I get, because you have a right to know that before you click.
What an affiliate link is
It is a link that carries an identifier of mine. If you go through it and buy the service, the company credits that sign-up to me and gives me something in return. It does not cost you more: the price is the same as if you had arrived on your own, and in some cases it is better, because the link carries a discount.
Who I have agreements with
- Proton. Referral programme. What I receive is credit in my own Proton account, not money. That credit can only pay for my Proton subscriptions and cannot be turned into cash. Anyone who signs up through my link also receives credit.
- ProfesionalHosting. Their Plan Amigo programme. This is the company that has hosted this blog since day one.
If I ever add another one, it will appear here before you see the first link.
My rules
- I only link to what I use. There is no affiliate link to a service I do not pay for and run myself. If I stop using it, I remove the link.
- The link does not change what I write. None of these companies reviews, approves or pays for the articles. If a product has a flaw, I say so.
- They are visible. Every affiliate link sits inside a box that says so, in the article itself, not hidden away on this page.
- No tracking on my side. I install no affiliate cookies or scripts. The link is a normal link; what the company does on its own site is covered by its privacy policy, not mine.
- No self-referrals. I never use my own links to buy anything.
Technical marking
All these links carry rel="sponsored nofollow", which is the standard way to tell search engines that a link is sponsored.
